ALTAY Tank’s production facility has been unveiled

Ana sayfa / News

The mass production facility for the ALTAY tank, one of the most important projects in the Turkish defense industry, has been photographed for the first time. Mass production has accelerated at the BMC factory, whose foundations were laid in Ankara last year. The official opening ceremony for the facility has not yet been held, but it is anticipated that the first deliveries will be made soon.

This modern production base, established by BMC in the Ankara Aerospace and Aviation Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (HAB), utilizes domestically produced industrial robots and next-generation technologies. Intensive work is underway in all processes, from hull production to the final assembly line. BMC Chairman Fuat Tosyalı confirmed that the factory has begun mass production and stated that the opening ceremony is planned according to the schedule of high authorities.

Development of the domestically produced BATU power pack, which will power the Altay tank, is ongoing. The BATU must pass road and performance tests. Therefore, the first 40 ALTAY tanks will use the Korean-made Doosan DV27K power pack.

According to the production schedule announced last year, three ALTAY tanks will be delivered in 2025. Eleven more will be delivered in 2026, 41 in 2027, and 30 more thereafter. A total of 85 of the T1 version will be produced. After 2028, the T2 configuration will be adopted, and 165 ALTAY tanks of this version will be produced, bringing the total to 250 tanks delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces.
